To create a large kitchen for entertaining, we removed the wall leading into the breakfast room and added a large 5×10 costa rose granite island seating six with a drawer microwave. We removed all existing cabinets down to the studs and had custom cabinetry built. The kitchen reno was challenging due to a very difficult carpenter. In hind sight, I wish I would have followed my gut and found someone more reliable and better skilled. The cabinets were not prepped properly and the lacquer paint job was inadequate. We now have to hire a reputable painter to fix the cabinets. My advice would be, if a trades person seems difficult from the get go, find someone else! On the bright side, I love the space we created as we spend a lot of family time and entertaining in the kitchen.😉 The kitchen was painted Ben Moore bavarian cream.
The granite island counter top was very challenging to get in the house! I was praying to the “renovation Gods” during the install that the large slab wouldn’t break!😉
A copper apron sink under the window with an iron rubbed faucet ground the space and creates a cottage feel. Mother of pearl back splash ties in the pink flecks in the costa rose granite and chandeliers.

I lost sleep attempting to explain the construction of the coffered ceiling to the contractor! It was very important to me that the coffers tie in to the cove moulding, however, FINALLY my contractor understood the design. Several mouldings were used to created this affect.
The dishwasher sat here for awhile……..
We kept the maids stairs as they add character and have historical significance!
