Hi everyone! It’s been so long since I’ve posted! Life’s been full of ups and downs with some struggles along the way, but that’s parenthood right? Despite all that’s going on here, our annual Summer party took place last weekend!! It was a really fun party and I appreciate all my friends who did an amazing job dressing up for the occasion!!! This years theme, the 1950’s, was inspired by a retro cookbook my mom gave me. To set the tone for the party, I printed and framed these tongue and cheek photos from the era and displayed on tables inside and outdoors.
Roses always add beauty to a table. I made a bunting banner using Bristol board and photo copied pictures from the 50s. I loved the 1920s banner from my party last year and decided to recycle the idea!
I set up a French 75 drink station. Outdoor drink stations add a special touch to a party. The recipe was framed so guests could make their own cocktail. Do you remember my champagne bucket find? I knew it would come in handy! It holds a lot of bottles.
Watermelon with lime goat cheese and cucumber canapés! How pretty!
Chilled cucumber soup with cumin was served in mini martini glasses inspired by the era. The pink lady, a 1950s cocktail made with gin, grenadine and egg whites was served to the ladies. Drink umbrellas and cherries to garnish her! Mini martinis 🍸 were a must! I found hair and makeup tutorials on Pinterest.
Thanks to our wonderful costume lady Brenda, I’m ready to greet my guests! My best friend for over 40 years and her husband drove from Nova Scotia to attend!!! My beautiful friends have arrived! They look perfectly made up in their 1950s costumes! Cocktail music from the era transported us back in time!
Me and my Brits!
Yes, here at Lincluden Cottage we dance in the kitchen! Singing “Hopelessly Devoted To You”! We were good! Trust me. 😉So another Summer party has come and gone. I truly appreciate all my friends who attended! Next year, maybe 1970’s????
Off on a Western Mediterranean cruise!
Thank you for stoping by!!!
