Happy New Year friends! It seems so long since I’ve written.
Now that I’ve survived the Holidays and “de-Christmased” my home (always hard for me to pack up the decorations) today was the perfect day to write a post. Yesterday, I was featured on a site I LOVE, called Hometalk and am thrilled to have some new followers! Welcome! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. My Christmas was very busy and seemed to fly by. We had a great Christmas celebrating with our friends. Here are a few highlight photos to sum it up!
We’ve had some really weird weather here on the East Coast of Canada. Mostly freezing rain but during the holidays we were lucky to have a few beautiful snowy days.
The boys annual gingerbread decorating party was a good time! It’s a family tradition I have created for my boys over the last 10 years!
As they years go by, it’s getting more difficult to get my boys to cooperate, but deep down I know they LOVE decorating gingerbread with me! 😉
My gorgeous friend agreed to model her beautiful ensemble! The dress is Betsey Johnson’s new line (that didn’t break the bank). I love how she put together this little black dress, sophisticated with it’s lace and bow, but a little edgy and fun paired with the black tights and booties! Every year I look forward to the smoked salmon. It is so delicious.
Over the holidays I made the best roast beef of my life! Not to toot my own horn but I was seriously proud! I can’t wait to share the recipe with you in detail. Stay posted!
Another family tradition is the Christmas eggnog trifle. It reminds me of home and family.
The early start was tough but I’m blessed with two wonderful boys who still love the magic of the holidays! So no complaints. Every Christmas Eve, I rush to our local bakery at 7:00 am to get the most wonderful cinnamon buns. They are huge! While in line for the buns I was telling the man behind me (who was equally as worried the buns would sell out) how my nine year old would be very upset if I didn’t get the buns. The gentleman replied,” I can relate but the person who would be very upset if I don’t come home with the buns is 90″!!! It was such a funny moment. Guess the cinnamon buns are a hit no matter what age!
New Years was quiet due to an accident (brace yourself for the photo) involving high heels, a pencil skirt and a few glasses of prosecco. This is the good foot! I stubbed my toe on a door jam and then proceeded to fall on the tops of both ankles…..yes it hurt!
I debated posting the photo, but thought in 2017 I’m “keeping it real”. This is as real as it gets! I have never had a bad fall before but this was an eye opener to be more careful whether it be on ice, snow or wearing high heels! I’m healing quickly and thankfully did not break my ankle.
I managed to pack up Christmas in these wonderful clear plastic storage containers! I no longer have the patience of packing each jingle ball in it’s own original box.
As I’ve said, I’m excited to be blogging again! It’s such a creative outlet for me and I’ve met a lot of wonderful people in my little blogging world! My goal for 2017 is to create a blog that inspires, interests and at least least puts a smile on your face! Although my photos in some post look picture perfect, my life is not. I don’t expect it to be. Mishaps along the way make life more interesting (as cliche as that sounds) and believe me, are a regular occurrence at Lincluden Cottage! 😉 So I will share those also!
Stay connected! Your comments make my day!
