Christmas is a special time for my family. Although, I have so many wonderful and cherished memories, the second week in December is a tough time as eight years ago we lost my dad suddenly. During the Holidays, I felt like I was going through the motions for the first few years afterwards. Having two young boys, however, helped me to enjoy the Holiday through their eyes and somewhat distracting me from my grief.
My dad LOVED Christmas!!! He would go out a few days before on a shopping spree as he really enjoyed giving. He made many donations to families in need and encompassed the true spirit of Christmas. My best memory of him was on Christmas morning as he loved watching us open our presents from him. He was a generous man. So, if you have lost a loved one, I understand how Christmas can be difficult. I recommend taking time to remember cherished memories and focusing on what you can do to make someones Holiday a little bit better. Tomorrow a group of ladies and I are putting together shoebox donations for women in need. Coats For Kids is another great charity. Giving is the best remedy for combating sadness. In the next few weeks I will be decorating gingerbread with my two sweet boys. My goal is to make their childhood memories as happy as my parents made mine!
This is an old photo of our home, but it’s my favourite!!! Grab a cup of coffee, tea or coco, put your feet up and join me for some Christmas decor in the foyer!!!
In the foyer I started off with a simple garland on the stairs.
I decided it looked too bare and added another garland.
The garland is secured with wreath wire. Both strands are very light and easy to attach to the banister.
