As Summer comes to an end, there is still time for a few more outdoor soirees! One of my favourite things about Summer is utilizing fresh cut flowers and herbs from the garden. There’s nothing like going to the garden on a gorgeous Summer day and taking in the fragrant aromas, scissors in hand to snip what’s needed for an evening of entertaining!
I put together this pretty centre piece using hydrangeas and sweet purple flowers from the gardens.
These green hydrangeas are perfect on the patio! My floral arrangements took in 5 minutes and I didn’t spend a dime! 😉 Originally I purchased one patio umbrella from Pier One, but loved it so much bought another one. Both were 50% off!
The hydrangeas are so fresh and really make the space pop!
By draping a crisp white linen table cloth over an old coffee table, I’ve created a very inexpensive alternative for the Frontgate coffee table matching the wicker collection. Hopefully I will get the table next season, but I like the look of my makeshift table in the mean time!
For the soiree, I always like to have a signature drink ready for my guests. I couldn’t decide between mojitos or Prosecco, but found a recipe combing both! The best of both worlds! 😉
First, I made a mint syrup combing one cup of sugar with two parts water, muddling mint leaves and bringing ingredients to a boil.
Once the mixture cooled down, I strained the leaves and poured the syrup into a bottle.
Mix 1/2 shot of white rum, a table spoon of the mint syrup, a table spoon of lime juice, fill the glass to the top with chilled Prosecco and garnish with a lime wedge and mint leaves.
The finished product! The perfect Summer drink to welcome your guests!
